Home Care – What Is It?
Home care, or in-home care, is providing supportive care to individuals in the home. The care may be provided by licensed paid caregivers or friends or relatives. The goal is to make sure that the person needing care is able to carry on the activities of normal living that they would otherwise not be physically able to accomplish due to the infirmities of age, illness or injury.
Home care is not the same as custodial care or non-medical care.
Home health and care services allow persons of all ages, but seniors in particular, to live safely at home and avoid the stresses of being in a hospital or other care facility. Home care, when it is accomplished by Medicare-certified providers, may qualify for insurance reimbursement. They may include assistive, therapeutic, rehabilitation and short-term nursing.
Home Care Types
The types of care included in home care include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, home health aides and social workers as needed and as allowed by insurance or personal ability to pay.
San Francisco peninsula home care has become a matter of necessity for many living today on the San Francisco peninsula. Hard working adults living in the communities in the middle of the Silicon Valley such as Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, Hillsborough, Los Altos, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Mateo and Woodside often find themselves unable to spare the time to fully care for a loved one as much as they would like.
